Mike & Pam Westberg – Harvest Vision Ministries Administrative Coordinator
Mike was born in Oregon and raised in the town of Culver (population 302). The town council erased the “2” and made it a “1” off the chalkboard when he left to go in the Navy in 1966. After the Navy he moved to Salem, Oregon. His whole work life was in the food industry either working irrigation on the farm or supplying canned and frozen vegetables. Mike worked in the fields, the production facilities and finally managing an organic segment for General Mills. Now he is retired and keeping his little acres in Birdsview Washington thriving. Mike was first brought to understanding Jesus when he went to vacation bible school every year as a child. He felt in his heart that God was a part of his life.
Mike attended the Dallas Mennonite Brethren Church when he moved to Salem.
He accepted Jesus in his life and was baptized in 1972.
Pam was born in upstate New York to a nomadic family. They moved from New York to Colorado to California finally landing in Oregon in 1973. While not being raised in a church attending family, God was a respected member of her household growing up. Churches, “religion” and the teachings of the bible were not part of her upbringing. Without the guidance of Jesus, her life took many turns downward. When first surrounded by Christian friends, Pam marveled at the peace in their life. However, she is stubborn and had to live life her way. Pam moved to Salem, Oregon in 1986 with her two-year-old son after a divorce. God was working in Pam’s life. He made certain she had a roof over her head, food for her son and a good daycare so she could work. It was not until after Mike came into her life that she was able to come to feel free to express her love for Jesus.
Mike and Pam met in 1987 when she was working as the receptionist for a food processing company where Mike worked. Mike and Pam were married in 1991. Their son, Ryan, was seven by then. Ryan was interested in learning about church. One Easter Sunday the family went to West Salem Christian Church where they were greeted with the love of God and beautiful music. They started attending West Salem Christian Church in 1993. Mike and Pam worked with the children on Wednesday bible studies. They also produced plays for the congregation.
With the help of an amazing Pastor and the love of the fellowship, Pam accepted Jesus and was baptized in 1994.
Mike and Pam have a daughter (Rachel) , grandchildren and great grandchildren living in Fresno California. Their son, Ryan, his wife and three children live a country block from Mike and Ryan. It has been a blessing to continue to show these young people that Jesus is working in our loves.
The careers Mike and Pam chose taught them many “wisdoms” that are beneficial to the ministry today. Pam helps with administrative tasks in the Harvest Vision Ministries office mostly working with the website and various laptops etc. Mike has been helpful with the Garden of Eden Farming project and continued faith.
