What or who we worship can be measured by how much influence it has in our lives.
Many good people in authority have totally dedicated themselves to saving the lives of as many people as possible during this present global crisis and we should all be grateful. As noble as that is – it pales in comparison to the value of saving their souls which is the mission of those that are disciples of Jesus Christ.
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” (Romans 13:1)
All of the sudden this scripture is many believers favorite and most cherished scripture.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)
“Of the increase of His (Jesus) government and peace there will be no end.” (Isaiah 9:6)
“Then Jesus said to them, ‘Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” (Matthew 22:21)
“Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, ‘Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God.” (Acts 4:18-19)
Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego and Daniel all refused to obey the commands of the king.
The Maji disobeyed King Herod and did not return to him.
John the Baptist told the king that he had broken the law and the king cut his head off.
Jesus disobeyed the synagogue rulers that said it was unlawful to heal the sick on the Sabbath.
Jesus broke the law touching the lepers and allowing prostitutes and women with issues of blood to touch him when it was against the law for them to do so in public.
Every human being will be judged by their own choice. We won’t have the luxury of a democratic process that would suggest that if everyone else agreed it was OK, or “that is what the person in the pulpit told us”.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” (Romans 8:26-27)
Either God will hear us say, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
Or we will hear God say, “Not My will, but yours be done.”
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say.” (Luke 6:46)
