Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we can not see.
We would be fools to not accept the reality of an eternal life with God because He credits His holiness and perfection to our account. It is His gift to us when we confess and accept the forgiveness of our sin that separates us from Him. It was purchased for us by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ of Nazareth on the cross and we have the eternal assurance of eternal life by His resurrection. We step out of grace when we become convinced we “earned” perfection and holiness, or even now can “maintain” it apart from His Grace. For we know what is required of us:
“to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before the Lord.”(Micah 6:8)
