The Lord has been so merciful to us at Harvest Kids because He always provides an opportunity of no rain for us to crush the aluminum cans.
Our faithful donors drop off at the Harvest Home throughout the week.
The recycling money is used to support orphans that are living with families scattered throughout Uganda. The “Change the World” money that donors contribute to add to the change the kids bring is being collected to finish the 6th and 7th-grade classrooms for the primary school the kids help build last year in Kayunga, Uganda. We were blessed to have one of our young kids that sells chicken eggs from her home donate all her money to the school. The kids counted $293 which brings their total to $3,572. They need a total of $5,800 to finish the foundation and purchase all the bricks, then we will get the final estimate to finish it to make the December 31 deadline their local education board set so the 5th-grade students can have a place to advance.
We were led in praise songs by our sister, Odette. She included a grueling two times through Father Abraham. This was complete with the acting-out exercises. It was about all us older Harvest Kids can handle.
Next, we had a short lesson on John 14:1-2,
where Jesus made a special promise to all of us.
Hailey moved into a new home with her family about 3 years ago. She started with an empty room but shared that today she has a nice, beautiful bed, dresser, shelves with books and stuff, decorated walls, and her name there. We took a few minutes to discuss the difference that 3 years made and then talked about the promise of Jesus that He would start preparing a room for us and He has been working on that room for over 2,000 years.
After lunch, we had some basketball, jump rope, and parachute time.
Betsy from Child’s Evangelism Fellowship arrived to share the love of Jesus with songs, puppets, stories, reading from the Bible, crafts, and prayer. Many thanks to Zoenicole and Ruby for helping her with the lessons. She used a stop light with the colors: Red – Stop; Yellow – Wait and Green – Go as one of her props.
Everyone had the opportunity to follow the reading of Revelation 3:20 out of their Bibles.
After being put on two different teams, we were asked questions and when we answered we were able to draw a slip of paper with a number for points and have a little contest that everyone wins.
It is a blessing when Betsy describes sin as: “Anything that you say, think or do that makes God sad.”
I always get more out of simple but interactive teaching which Child’s Evangelism Fellowship embraces when they share the gospel than the kids ever do.
