Sixty years ago, when Linda was 10, she accepted Jesus and was told during that time she would be in Africa. Forty-seven years later, we made that trip. Over 8 years ago, December 2012, I had returned from Africa and Madilyn (4) was used by God to put substance to the vision of ‘Madilyn’s House’, a home for orphan girls in Mukono, Uganda. Eight years ago, June 2013, Kylee, Madilyn, Hailey and I were in London, waiting for the flight back to Seattle after our visit to bless the construction that had started on ‘Madilyn’s House’. Madilyn asked, ‘What about all the kids?’ My response, as best as I can remember was, ‘we will get home and try to raise the rest of the money to finish ‘Madilyn’s House’. Her response, ‘No, what about all the kids?’
Yesterday, we had the blessing to send $7,800 to Africa. $2,000 donated by an anonymous donor to provide food for children at the Nalidi Grace school, that Harvest Kids has supported since 2013. We also sent the money needed to put the roof and windows and doors on another school, the Harvest Kids are building in central Uganda. This is another of several schools they have supported. They have helped and inspired others to support the purchase of the property, refurbish the old church building for temporary use and purchase textbooks so the primary school could start on June 6th, with 80 children, 35 from Muslim families in the community. Now, they are $4,083 away from finishing this work which ended up costing $20,200. They started this project the first of the year.
When Peter faithfully stepped out of the boat, he was able to walk on the water, until he took his eyes off Jesus for a second, saw the wind and was afraid and began to sink. Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. “You of little faith,’ Jesus said, ‘why did you doubt?” Over these last 8 years, we have had to overcome our doubt to trust that what God called into existence through the Harvest Kids would not fail, until God Himself would say no more. People come and then they go. But then there is another kid to stand with the few kids that stay faithful and what is impossible for us continues to be possible with God. May He always get the glory.
